CHANNEL MODIFICATION

Artisan Consulting Engineers was tasked to perform hydraulic analysis for Illinois Route 173 Channel Modification, Village of Machesney Park, Winnebago County, Illinois.
The Illinois Route 173 Channel modification included impacts to approximately one linear mile of regulated channel adjacent to Illinois Route 173. The channel had to be relocated to support the widening of Illinois Route 173, but also to support the development of land adjacent to this primary thoroughfare between the Village and the new interchange at Illinois Route 173/Interstate 90. The project was affected by approximately 5.6 acres of regulated wetlands and a FEMA regulated Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA).
Project Deliverables of this project included Hydraulic analysis of the channel and proposed impacts to the channel. Completing a Joint Permit Application to the IDNR, IEPA, and USACOE for the purpose of permitting the channel modification with impacts to existing wetlands. Completing a FEMA Conditional Letter of Map Change for the purpose of permitting development in a regulated flood plain.
